European DeepU project: on 20-21 February the annual meeting was held at our Department

On 20-21 February, the annual meeting of the European DeepU project was held at our Department.

It was an important opportunity for international experts to meet and develop a new drilling concept using lasers and cryogenic gas, expected to revolutionize the deep geothermal energy sector.

We spoke about lasers, cryogenic gases, rocks’ melting and vitrification, environmental, health and safety risks, and geothermal modelling. Two days of intense discussions that brought new ideas to continue the project in the best possible way.
