Caves, Tepuis and Extreme Life: Francesco Sauro's New Book
11.04.2025
On Friday 11 April at 6 p.m., the Auditorium of the Museum of Nature and Humankind, located in Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi 39, Padua, will host the presentation of Auyán-tepui, Caves at the Origins of Time (Edizioni La Venta), curated by Francesco Sauro, researcher at the Department of Geosciences of the University of Padua.
The book brings together thirty years of expeditions to the tepuis — sandstone mountains among the oldest on Earth — and delves into scientific research carried out in caves such as Imawarì Yeuta, exploring themes in geology, microbiology, and extreme environments.
Speakers include curator Francesco Sauro, Department Director Nicola Surian, and Antonio De Vivo, founder of the La Venta Association. The event is free and does not include access to the museum exhibition. Online registration is required on the museum's website.
The book will be available at the museum bookshop starting from 11 April. A short book signing will follow the presentation.
