Teaching sedimentology with analogue models

Analogue models represent an effective tool for teaching Geosciences and they are particularly efficient in the field of disciplines related to morpho-sedimentary processes.

Starting from this semester, at the Department of Geosciences, we use analogue models to observe and discuss with our students the different processes that govern sediment distribution and geomorphic evolution in various depositional environment.

In this video Prof. Massimiliano Ghinassi talks about the first experiment, dedicated to turbidity current, and the student Safi Muchitawati says her opinion about the learning experience.
