Seminar "Career Workshop" - From academic training to a professional career: the experience of a geoscientist at the Environmental Agency

From University to Environmental Work: the Story of a Geologist at ARPAV

What does it really take to turn an academic path into a professional career? On Tuesday 8 April 2025 at 4:30 p.m., in Aula Arduino at the Department of Geosciences, Matteo Cultrera will try to answer this question by sharing his personal journey.

A geologist at the Regional Agency for Environmental Prevention and Protection of Veneto (ARPAV), Cultrera works in the Air and Water Monitoring Unit of the Environmental Quality Department. During the seminar, he will talk about the transition from university to the workplace—his choices, uncertainties, the skills that proved useful, and those he developed along the way.

This won’t be a lecture, but a story: between successes, detours, and advice, it’s a chance for students nearing the end of their studies to reflect on their future with a grounded and open perspective.

Attending the Avvio al lavoro (meaning “from university to work”) seminar is an opportunity to engage with real career paths, learn how to make the most of your academic training, and gather useful insights to guide your next steps. A moment to ask questions, get inspired, and begin to picture yourself as a professional.

Here below the abstract of the seminar.
