A special lecture by science writer Terri Cook, featured in Scientific American, Eos, and Lonely Planet, and Head of Communications at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, University of Colorado Boulder, is scheduled for Thursday, 28 November 2024. 

Titled Science as Story - Communicating Science in Unexpected (and Effective) Ways, this lecture is part of the Distinguished Lecture Series of the European Geosciences Union, hosted by the Department of Biology, the Department of Geosciences, and the University Museums Centre (CAM).

Terri Cook will share innovative methods in science communication, highlighting storytelling’s role in making scientific research accessible to the public. Her experiences span topics from Middle Earth's geology to NASA’s Europa Clipper mission, showing how narrative can make science both engaging and understandable.
