Field Mission in South America for the Applied Geophysics Group
30.01.2025
From February 2 to 23, the Applied Geophysics group of the Department of Geosciences will conduct a research campaign in the Atacama Desert and Patagonia. The objective is to characterize frozen soils in Andean environments, with a particular focus on permafrost in arid cryosphere regions.
This activity is part of the COLD SPOT project, within the 2023-2027 Excellence Project"Geosciences for Sustainable Development". The research will contribute to a better understanding of geophysical processes related to permafrost in extreme environments, with implications for climate change studies.
Further updates on the mission’s results will follow.
