Fabrizio Nestola, Full Professor of Mineralogy of the Department of Geosciences of the University of Padua (former Head of the Department between 2018 and 2022) and President of the University Museums Centre, was awarded Geochemistry Fellow 2024 by the joint EAG/GS Geochemistry Fellows selection committee.
In 1996, the Geochemical Society and the European Association of Geochemistry established the honorary title of Geochemistry Fellow, to be bestowed upon outstanding scientists who have, over some years, made a major contribution to the field of geochemistry. The award aims to recognize scientific achievements that advance geochemistry, but also the ability to promote communication with the general public, train the next generation of geochemists and encourage ethics, inclusion and social justice in science.
Professor Fabrizio Nestola is among the very few Italian scientists named Geochemistry Fellow since the title was established and he will receive this prestigious title during the Goldschmidt Conference 2024, scheduled for August in Chicago.
For Prof. Nestola this is the second international acknowledgement in the last few months: he was also awarded the Dana Medal 2024 of the Mineralogical Society of America and the ceremony will take place in September, at the Geological Society of America 2024 Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California.
