The ranking was created by QS Quacquarelli Symonds and includes more than 1440 universities in 85 locations around the world
The University of Padua ranks first in Italy in the fields of Geology, Geophysics and Earth and Marine Sciences. This is what emerges from the World University Ranking by Subject 2021 recently published by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, one of the most relevant agencies in the world in the field of university evaluation. At the European level, the University of Padua is also ranked among the top 40 in the field of Geology and among the top 50 in the fields of Geophysics and Earth and Marine Sciences, while globally it is among the top 150 universities in all three subjects.
The ranking includes more than 3800 individual university programs offered by approximately 1440 universities in 85 different locations around the world. More specifically, five macro-areas are considered, “Art & Humanities”, “Engineering and Technology”, “Life Sciences and Medicine”, “Natural Sciences” and “Social Sciences and Management”, which include a total of 51 academic subjects.
Then, for each subject four indicators are combined: the "Academic reputation", estimated through a survey involving around 100,000 researchers, the "Employer reputation", the post-graduate employability obtained thanks to a survey that gathered around 50,000 responses from graduate employers worldwide, the "Research citations per paper" and the "H-index".
The ranking, drawn up every year, is part of the Higher Reputation Report (HER) published by QS Quacquarelli Symonds and aims at helping potential students to identify the main universities on a national and global scale in various academic fields.
