First in Italy and among the Top 150 universities in the world in the field of Earth Sciences. These are the positions of the University of Padua according to the 2021 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), the ranking drawn up annually by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy which includes the best 1800 universities in the world, among more than 4000 institutions analyzed, divided by academic subject.
The ranking is based on five indicators, which not only combine several academic parameters, but they also include the research output (Q1), referred to the number of publications in journals of major international importance in the specific research field- in this case, the Earth Sciences, research influence (CNCI), international collaboration (IC), research quality (Top), and international academic awards (Award).
"This recognition comes after that of QS Quacquarelli Symonds, which ranked the University of Padua as the first in Italy and among the first 150 in the world in the fields of Geology, Geophysics and Earth and Marine Sciences, and the ranking Nature Index, which again sees us in first place in Italy for research quality and 39th in Europe ”, underlines Prof. Fabrizio Nestola, Head of the Department of Geosciences at the University of Padua. “Likewise, the NTU Ranking by subject also places us first in Italy and 151st in the world based on the performance of our scientific production, and 97th in the world if only publications in the most impactful scientific journals are counted. These results of national and international importance clearly highlight the quality and the great effort that our Department is putting in place to achieve relevant goals at an international scientific level and, at the same time, to attract both students from outside the region and from abroad.”
ShanghaiRanking Consultancy has also recently published the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) for the year 2021, dedicated to the global quality of universities around the world and which has seen the University of Padua not only among the first 200 universities in the world, but also confirmed first in Italy, further demonstrating the excellence of the Paduan institution.
