Final GeoSguardi Seminar: Sustainability and Building Materials at the Core of Luca Valentini’s Talk

A journey through geosciences and sustainability: Professor Valentini’s seminar closes the GeoSguardi series with a focus on construction materials and the challenges of the Anthropocene.
The GeoSguardi seminar series, organized by the Department of Geosciences of the University of Padua as part of the Excellence Project Geosciences for Sustainable Development, concludes on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at Spazio 35 of the San Gaetano Cultural Center in Padua.
After addressing earthquake forecasting with Giulio Di Toro, hydrogeological risk and new technologies with Filippo Catani, and the fragile balance of the Venice Lagoon with Andrea D’Alpaos, this final meeting will explore the role of geosciences in building a sustainable future.
Professor Luca Valentini will examine how Earth sciences contribute to ecological transition, with a particular focus on construction materials such as concrete—one of the most widely consumed raw materials globally. Key topics will include sustainable sourcing, reuse of mineral waste, and the value of a multidisciplinary approach to the study of geo-materials.
