On Monday 11 November, the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy agency published the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2024, confirming the University of Padua as the best in Italy for the Earth Sciences subject.

‘It is with great satisfaction that I see that once again this year, for the sixth consecutive year, our University ranks first among Italian universities in Earth Sciences in the Shanghai Ranking,’ comments Nicola Surian, Head of the Department of Geosciences. ‘This is certainly an excellent confirmation of the quality and impact of the scientific research carried out by our Department.’

The result underscores the excellence of the research conducted in the field of Earth Sciences and confirms the commitment of the academic community of the Department of Geosciences in contribution to national and international environmental knowledge and sustainability.

The Shanghai Ranking by Subject mainly assesses the quality of research by analysing the number and impact of scientific publications, as well as the awards and prizes received. This ranking highlights the central role of the University of Padua in the global scientific landscape.
